Preservation Meets Progress
Rooted in Old North. Ready for the Future.
1916
Owner Otto Roehl
Built to last
As a prominent engineer of early 20th-century concrete structures, Otto Roehl built 206 W Glenwood with the same structural logic he applied to infrastructure. Built “as solid as his bridges,” the home features poured concrete foundations and unusually sturdy framing designed to endure for centuries.
1971
“Modern” Heating
The Transition from Coal
The home moved into the modern era with a natural gas furnace installation. However, the original cast-iron coal furnace—a massive “iron hulk” installed before the floor was completed—remains a permanent fixture in the basement, serving as a monument to the home’s early industrial history.

Roof INstall
A Defining Silhouette
The Iconic Red Roof The home’s most recognizable feature was added: a vibrant red metal roof. Engineered to mimic the aesthetic of Mediterranean terra cotta while providing superior durability, it has become a landmark of the Glenwood streetscape.
